Veterans massage therapy through VA Community Care in Seattle at Maxwell Massage

How massage through VA Community Care works

VA Community Care lets you get certain care in the community instead of at a VA facility. The VA authorizes it, and providers like us who are in the network see you and bill the VA for the care.

Here's the short version: the VA sets up your Community Care authorization, you book with us, and we bill the VA (through TriWest, which runs Community Care in our region) directly. Most veterans pay nothing out of pocket. If you're partway through the process and not sure what comes next, call us. We do this often and can point you in the right direction.

What we help veterans with

We treat these with deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and neuromuscular therapy, matched to what your body needs.

Clinical massage, not just a spa hour

A lot of the veterans we see have carried something for years, an old injury, a bad back, chronic tension that no amount of rest touches. Our therapists come from clinical backgrounds, so we start with an assessment and work on the actual problem: releasing the muscle guarding, breaking down old scar tissue, and getting range of motion back. We check in and adjust as you go, and we're glad to coordinate with your VA care team or any other providers you're seeing.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Do you see veterans through VA Community Care?

Yes. We're a VA Community Care Network provider and treat veterans regularly. We're experienced working with the VA, so we handle the billing and coordination for you.

Q: How does massage through VA Community Care work?

Your care is authorized by the VA through Community Care. Once that's in place, you book with us as an in-network provider and we bill the VA directly. Not sure where you are in the process? Call us and we'll help you sort out the next step.

Q: Does it cost me anything?

We bill the VA directly for care authorized through Community Care, and most veterans pay nothing out of pocket. Any cost depends on your VA eligibility, which the VA determines.

Q: Do you work with TriWest?

Yes. In our region, VA Community Care is administered by TriWest, and we bill through them. You don't have to manage any of that.

Q: What do you treat for veterans?

Chronic pain, back and neck pain, old injuries that never fully settled, and general muscle tension. Every therapist here comes from a clinical background.

Q: I'm not sure if I'm approved for massage through the VA. Can you help?

Give us a call. We're used to the Community Care process and can help you figure out where you stand and what to bring to get started.

Q: What should I bring to my first appointment?

Your VA Community Care authorization or referral details and a photo ID. That's what we need to confirm your care and bill the VA.
